Went to the drive in theater with the girlfriend. She drove since my Trans Am is in the shop and my truck was out of gas (I'm poor). On the way back she gets pulled over. Apparently her license plate light was out. She starts freaking out and stuff. I have to explain to her how those kind of tickets work: generally you get a warning or a fix it ticket and it's no big deal (stuff I've learned on oppo!). She got a warning. I told her to go to walmart where she bought a new bulb and I installed it in the parking lot. How bored must that officer had been to be looking for burnt out license plate lights? My Trans Am's lens has been painted over numerous times and the socket hasn't worked since I owned the car.

a looong time ago, we rented a Chevy Astro Van to take to see family in South Padre Island TX. A 6.5 hour drive from Houston. We got pulled over 3 times for a rear plate bulb on the way there lol. 3 TIMES!

Considering he only gave a warning and not even a "fix it ticket" you almost have to wonder if it was just a "just letting you know" stop (since very few people would ever know they've got a rear light out without being told) or, depending on the hour, a "DUI/belt/other such and such" check. Did he run her info? I once got stopped by a cop for a brake light out. The cop literally pulled me over, came to my window, said "Just wanted to let you know you have a brake light out," and sent me on my way. Honestly I was appreciative. It was my dad's van and he never checks his lights.

we went on a Friday after we got out of school around 3 ish. My dad picked us up in this white Astro Van rental. Compared to our 1987 Nissan sonething beater car, this was luxury. Remember also, you can drive 13 hours and change time zones and still be in Texas lol. I haven't been down to South Padre Island in forever. Miss that place

Often times cops will pull over cars with minor problems that look like they're driven by younger people in hopes of catching drunk drivers or weed.

Ran her info, but it was 1 am. Cop was pleasant enough, he struck up a shirt conversation about him graduating from the same high school as us.

He was bored and fishing I'd bet. Probably good your girl was driving. If it was you he probably wouldn't have been so lenient. Just a hunch.
